Ta Prohm is by far my favourite place to get lost in history with a book as your companion.
Language: Khmer is the official language of Cambodia.
Currency: The currency in Cambodia is the Cambodian Riel. However, the US Dollar is used as well. 1 USD is equivalent to about 4.025 KHR.
Safety: Cambodia is generally a safe country for solo female travellers. However, you’ll want to avoid walking home alone at night and keep an eye out for pickpockets in the main tourist areas.
My Experience: I love Siem Reap. I have visited Cambodia a few times, and Siem Reap was a constant on the itinerary. The ancient temples of Angkor Wat, n people, food and simplicity if the whole place wins your heart. Ta Prohm was built by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII (a king of the Khmer Empire from 1181 to 1218). It was dedicated as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery. It's part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Along with Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm is one of the most popular tourist sights in Cambodia. This by far is my favourite place to get lost in history with a book as your companion.
